Queuing.

I know I’m British and that is what we do best… but this drives me completely CRAZY:

Really?! A 49minute AVERAGE wait time? 35minutes in the queue and only 2 people grouped? Madness. There should be real time updates for the queues so you can actually see how many people are being grouped with you, not just block queuing when you’re nearly ready to enter.

This is also quite rediculous:

How can you have an average wait time of 6minutes when you’ve been in the queue for nearly triple that time? How can, at peak times like the weekend or early evening, with the hundreds of Warcraft players online (so much so there are wait times to get on the damn server!), there be a sixteen… or worse… FOURTY-NINE MINUTE wait time for a raid?!

You know what else really annoys me?

Akso, people queuing with healers or tanks for a boost, only for them to leave when inside. This is annoying for several key reasons, the most important being that the following 10 minute wait for a replacement when inside the raid, is no more fun than outside. In fact, you have to spend 10 minutes watching the /i chat, usually full of arrogant elitist idiots who pull trash too early and then die.

What makes it even worse is that chances are, when you finally get a full group, they’re all full of idiots who continuously wipe because they can’t work together.

I feel sorry for those people who don’t have a lot of time to play Warcraft, yet probably spend 99% of their online time trying to valour cap and get their gear. It can’t be fun spending all your time queuing and not even being able to see where about in that queue you are.

I mean, it’s not like it’s reliable information so you can go get a cup of tea whilst you wait – you always have to keep one eye out incase the queue does pop and you have to rush to accept it, dropping your teabag all over the sideboard in the process.

Oh wait, then someone will just drop out and you’re back to square one.

  1. I was naughty a few weeks ago and I grouped with a few guildies so they could get a healer queue. I was undergeared in my healing set, but I stayed and downed the first boss with them anyhow. There was no way I’d be able to heal the next lot of bosses, so I bailed. Know what happened? Even though I was in that raid for almost half an hour and had killed a boss, raid finder booted my guildies out of the raid when I left. Whoops!

I haven’t done LFR since. I really want to play my Mage, but I don’t want to wait 46 minutes for a group that will just make me grumpy with their stupidity and arrogance.

    • Eeek, it booted them out? That’s unfortunate!

Yes, I understand your irritation – there is lots of stupidity in LFR. I think the queue is only ok if you have other things to do in that time… otherwise it’s just tedious!

    • It kicks them out because people abuse the system to get fast queues into LFR leaving an in progress group waiting inside the raid for a healer. Which from experience ends up killing the group anyway. Therefore it is actually slower as you waste time in the original queue, then in theraid and then only have to queue again once the group disbands.

  2. I’ve seen long LFR wait times reported across the web lately, but again, maybe because I’m convinced of my own luck, I haven’t waited more than 20 mins this week. Maybe my experience is different as a healer on a low pop server, but I queued yesterday, was the last healer needed, and the 20 minutes was just for 2 remaining dps slots. During that time, one tank dropped out, and we picked another one up. Luck? Probably!

Too few people are brave enough to queue as a healer or tank because a few douchebags (who always seem to be DPS) bitch and moan about how awful the tank/healers are. Queue times are limited by the ratio of healers/tanks not the number of people in the queue. As a healer I rarely have to wait more than 5 minutes and that is usually waiting for 5 more healers to join the queue. You want a fast queue for LFR? Roll a healer 🙂

“How can you have an average wait time of 6minutes when you’ve been in the queue for nearly triple that time?”
It is an average not the maximum if the groups before you got lucky and had a few healers/tanks queue up in quick succession they could get in really quickly while your raid is being built up really slow because no healers/tanks queued.

  4. I’m moaning, it doesn’t have to be rational!

I have got healers, but they’re alts. I unfortunately don’t have the abundant time to do LFR on my mains and then the alts as well. My main obviously takes priority for raiding, so by the time that’s done, it’s the end of the week.

Never-the-less, the queuing system is flawed and I do hope something is done to update it. Thanks for reading! 🙂
