Welcome to our Community Project of 2017 (you can see our last one in 2014 here)!
We propose to do a series of – fun and lightearted – interviews which help us learn a bit more about our awesome community, and hopefully unravel some juicy details about our readers.
If you would like to get involved, contact us.
Thanks for doing our little interview… and being the first ones! Can you introduce yourselves?
We’re Mikael and Sofia, a couple living in Sweden. We have a 2-year old son. Are you guys as knackered as us?! Our two year old doesn’t stop! Mikael works as an Editor and Sofia as a Researcher. This presentation of us is written by Sofia.
Could you share a pic of you together – either IRL or in game, we don’t mind!
How long have you been together and where did you meet?
We met six years ago on twitter! Started writing to each other, met up, and the rest is history.
So, do you tend to play the same games together or prefer to keep gaming life separate?
We usually keep gaming life separate – my preferred game used to be World of Warcraft (Alliance EU – Nelf disc priest) and Mikael’s favourite games have been the Fallout series. After the baby came, I found it increasingly hard to keep up with the raiding schedule of my guild, and thus lost what was most fun about WoW (the social aspect). I’m now a big fan of the Dragon Age games.
We have played a lot of Minecraft together, which has been really nice because we play differently in ways that made us complement each other. For instance, I liked to explore and search for items, resources and crafting materials, and he liked to build stuff. Recently, we started a playthrough of Mass Effect: Andromeda together (Xbox one). It’s the first game we’ve played together where we take turns.
Spill the beans: what’s the most fun activity you like to do together? GAMING ACTIVITY… naughty! 😉
The most fun activity while playing together has been designing our character, discussing tactics and helping each other in more complex combat situations – If I’m playing, Mikael can keep an eye on life support and just help me watch out for baddies so we don’t get flanked 😊 You guys sound like a team to be reckoned with, eek!!
Who is the raid leader in your relationship?!
Playing together whilst taking turns has proven to be a challenge, not just something fun we do together! For example, we both enjoy combat, but Mikael prefers ranged classes, such as sniper, while I prefer melee classes, get real close and personal with the enemies. So, we need to compromise while building the combat profile of our character. Also, I like to pursue relationships in games if they are available – such as friendships and romances, and Mikael is not as amused by this as I am. I find myself wanting to follow questlines in an orderly fashion, while Mikael likes to roam around the open world and explore more freely. This is where I feel like the “raid leader” of the two of us. So we need good communication while playing, if not we’d probably end up fighting! 😃
Where do you see your future in gaming?
I hope we find more games to play separate characters in, and complement each other again instead of compromising with what we like most about a game!
Ok, the million pound question. You’re farming a rare mount. Neither of you has it. It drops. Who gets it?!!
I think if we end up in the mount drop situation, we would flip a coin for it! Or Mikael would probably give it to me because he looooooves me 😃
