Thanks for doing our little interview! Can you introduce yourselves?
N – Hi pleasure to do it! I’m Nathan. I’ve been a game for most of my life (as have most people these days). I go by Zxorm online. I’m mostly a slave to Blizzard games, but do branch out from time to time. I’m a lover of fantasy setting as well as sci-fi.
R: My name is Róisín, but my gamer tag is usually Nemissis. I mostly play Blizzard games or tabletop games.
Could you share a pic of you together – either IRL or in game, we don’t mind!
How long have you been together and where did you meet?
N – We first met in a RP guild via a mutual friend (Róisíns IRL friend). That was a bit over six years ago 0.0. Just over 5 years ago, I took a trip down to Dublin to see her in person and was in awe! Shortly after, we decided to try us out and we’ve been together since.
R: We first met on the roof of Theramore’s Keep. Zxorm’s character had been pointed out to me by a friend, but it took weeks before we talked because he was grinding achievements. But then I had an internship in Dublin for a while and we had the chance to meet up. I think I scared him a bit on his visit. We’ve been dating for about 5 years, but we don’t really have an anniversary, it just kind of happened.
Show us a picture of your setup?
R: ;_; My setup may scar some of your readers. I have a laptop that goes wherever I go (mostly to work and back home) and I haven’t invested in a good PC yet as I am still at the part of my life where I regularly relocate, usually across borders.
So, do you tend to play the same games together or prefer to keep gaming life separate?
N – Oh we game together all the time. It’s key reason we met, so why not? We raid, PvP quest and level in WoW. We are in the middle of a D&D campain in which I’m sure my toon will be killed by her at some stage. We play Steam games and phone games/handheld, and of course, table top /card games. Honestly, I think she has magical powers to mess up my dice rolls! Those who game together, stay together!
R: We rarely play separate games when both online. I mean, let’s be honest, it’s just nice to have someone you can depend on when playing together or someone to target if you’re not on the same side. We don’t have set roles though. We both tank, damage and heal depending on the situation.
With the current political situation it’s only right we ask your affiliation: HORDE OR ALLIANCE?
N – Why Limit ourselves to one side? We are… FOR AZEROTH! (Buuuuttt we are mainly Alliance NElf Druids).
R: For the Alliance! Well, actually… are we? It is where most of our alts live and so do our mains, but being Druids they are more open minded.
Spill the beans: what’s the most fun activity you like to do together? GAMING ACTIVITY… naughty! 😉
N – Well from RP background we have had frieds write fan fics of our toons which I’ve been sworn not to talk about…..so I’d have to say nothing is more fun that that happy sound of Róisín stealing a kill off me in PvP. (Heroes of the Storm kill stealing as well).
R: Well, it’s quite fun when he’s my healer in Heroes of the Storm and I dive into a group of enemies. If he’s ever diagnosed with high blood pressure it might be my fault. But generally, raining down destruction in Open World PvP also makes the list.
And when Róisín is over she would set up beside me and look after the cat ^^
As a couple, do you find sharing your gaming hobby helps your relationship?
N – For sure! We’ve been to four GamesCon events and we share in the dragging to different stands. It’s also easier to get things done as a two rather than be solo.
R: It’s never let us down. Although we have sometimes been carried away when constantly gaming in bigger groups and we have to make sure to set some time apart for ourselves to talk about other things. However, it is what brought us together and although there are many other facets to our relationship, discussing or quibbling about current or new games will always be important.
*ahem* who rides who on the two seater mount?
N – Haha! I’m mostly the mount. Only for the reason that she ends up hitting invisable walls that aren’t there for me.
R: Even if he didn’t have the much better setup, I would probably be the rider.
Who is the raid leader in your relationship?!
N – Róisín. Always Róisín! I would only lead us into stupid situations…again.
R: It’s usually me. There is much evidence that following Nathan leads to danger.
What’s been the biggest, how can I say this… marital dispute… whilst gaming together?
N – Gameing wise it has to be the Brightwing VS Chromie… Who is the better dragon (not Gnome!). Outside of gaming, I would say it would be best Startrek series. DS9 VS Voyager. (Both are good but really..Worf, O’Brian,Odo and so many other great people too DS9 is the better one!).
R: Who is the better dragon is a constant dispute. Clearly it is Chromie. In fact, I feel Brightwing should be disqualified from the options. Oh, there’s one more. I’m not sure if this next one counts, but I am apparently banned from stealing shirts off guys. Long story short: I was really close to getting a Blizzard staff shirt at gamescom two years ago before I got dragged away.
One of you has to kill 100 kobolds and one has to collect the 100 shiny beads they drop… who does which task and why?
N – Being a Bear/Moonkin combo, it’s kind of shared. I group them; she melts them and as I’m close I get the loot. It’s win-win for me!
R: Generally I pull every mob wherever I walk, which is convenient for farming anything. I wouldn’t say we have set jobs on that one though.
Where do you see your future in gaming?
N – The future will always be unknown but I intend to always have my player two in Róisín.
R: I think it’s always going to be a part of our lives in some form. Even if the servers for what we’re playing now go down, I’m sure we will find a new set of games to keep us teasing each other.
Ok, the million pound question. You’re farming a rare mount. Neither of you has it. It drops. Who gets it?!!
N – Easy!! Róisín gets it first. Not without her trying to give me it ( I may have said I would delete it if she didn’t take it).
R: We decide whether to roll need or greed on it so we both roll the same one. But when he wins he tries to give it to me. Once I sent him something he refused to take. So, while he was offline, I logged over to his account and used it so he couldn’t give it back.
