Couples Who Slay Together – Hailey & Chris

Welcome to our Community Project of 2017 (you can see our last one in 2014 here)!
We propose to do a series of – fun and lightearted – interviews which help us learn a bit more about our awesome community, and hopefully unravel some juicy details about our readers.

If you would like to get involved, contact us

Thanks for doing our little interview! Can you introduce yourselves?

We are Chris and Hailey (Abraxo). Chris is a soon-to-be grad student who is a console-exclusive gamer while Hailey is a business owner who plays on both console and PC.

Could you share a pic of you together – either IRL or in game, we don’t mind!

How long have you been together and where did you meet?

We met at a coffee shop/bar that we both frequented. We had a mutual friend who we both came to see perform that night. I (Hailey) noticed that he was wearing an anime t-shirt and liked the same kinds of beer as I did. He was cute, social, and I assumed a bit of a geek based on his shirt, my kind of man, so we chatted a bit.  The mutual friend pretty much told me not to get any ideas because they were trying to set him up with someone else. I ignored them with the idea that he could make his own decisions about dating. A few days later I invited him to a huge board game night I attended every week. I figured it was casual enough to be a friend only situation or it could turn into a date. It turned into a date and we’ve been together ever since. This was just over four years ago.

Show us a picture of your setup – do you have a cute couple thing going on, all cosy?

We do have a couple’s thing going on. When we moved in together, we had two TVs, two PS3s, and many other systems between us. The only logical thing was to set up our living room with both TVs so we could game on the couch together while still enjoying our own games. I also have a desktop with dual monitors behind the couch so we can still talk while I PC game.

Pictured is our TV set up with all our consoles. Not pictured are a classic Nintendo, Nintendo 64, GameCube, PlayStation 1, PlayStation 2, two PSPs, and a 3DS XL.

So, do you tend to play the same games together or prefer to keep gaming life separate?

Chris loves to play the same games together. With two PS3’s it’s really nice to own two copies of a game, so instead of split screen, we can have full screen side by side. I generally prefer to play solo and at my own pace, but we will often times play separate games while sitting on the couch together. We like to watch each other play games that either one of us has no interest in playing or has already played. We discuss strategies and help each other out with puzzles when we get stuck.

With the current political situation it’s only right we ask your affiliation: HORDE OR ALLIANCE?

I am definitely horde, although I do love some draenei waggle. Chris does not play WoW, mostly because he’s been in college and has no time to sink into an MMO. He did play the trial and definitely leans Alliance though. He’s all about those worgen!

Spill the beans: what’s the most fun activity you like to do together? GAMING ACTIVITY… naughty! 😉

We both love to discuss the lore of games we have both played. Especially in series with overarching histories like Fallout and Star Ocean. We have gotten lost in hours of discussion and interpretation of lore.

As a couple, do you find sharing your gaming hobby helps your relationship?

Definitely! We bonded early on because of our mutual love of the Fallout franchise and Bethesda in general. We grew up playing some of the same games, one of which (Star Ocean: Till the End of Time) I had never met anyone else who played.  So, we bond a lot over nostalgia. We help each other strategize and listen to each other’s frustrations and loves for games that the other isn’t into playing.

*ahem* who rides who on the two seater mount?

Well, that’s situation dependent. Depends on who knows the game best. They are usually the mount, or at least the driver. Most of the time it’s Chris so he can carry me. He has no problem playing a game a second time through and likes to play ahead so he knows what’s coming.

Who is the raid leader in your relationship?!

I would have to say I am. He agrees. I manage most everything and he gladly lets me.

What’s been the biggest, how can I say this… marital dispute… whilst gaming together?

We don’t have too many disputes, but I don’t like being told what to do unless I ask and I’m vocal about how much it irritates me. He wishes I would play co-op with him more and that I would initiate so he doesn’t have to nag me.

One of you has to kill 100 kobolds and one has to collect the 100 shiny beads they drop… who does which task and why?

Chris is definitely the muscle of the two so he would kill the kobolds. I would collect the shiny beads. It’s only fitting since I make jewelry for a living.

Where do you see your future in gaming?

We see ourselves in about the same place as we are now. Hopefully we’ll be a little busier with work and school.

Ok, the million pound question. You’re farming a rare mount. Neither of you has it. It drops. Who gets it?!!

Good question. We haven’t had to deal with this much, but we would probably give it to whoever wants it more. When asked, Chris said whoever has the least amount of stuff should get it. I’m not sure he fully understands the concept and competition of mount farming. I’d like to think he would be chivalrous and let me have it if the need was equal, but knowing how he plays Borderlands, he would likely be a bit greedy. He always carries me in shooters so the effort should be rewarded. It’s probably a good thing he doesn’t play WoW.

Thanks so much to both of you for letting us learn a bit about you! For how to find Hailey on the twittersphere see below.

Hailey can be found @AbraxoCast on Twitter and Chris does not internet socially.

Couples Who Slay Together – Rinike & Cepheus

Welcome to our Community Project of 2017 (you can see our last one in 2014 here)!

We propose to do a series of – fun and lightearted – interviews which help us learn a bit more about our awesome community, and hopefully unravel some juicy details about our readers.

If you would like to get involved, contact us.

I’m so pleased we managed to get you guys to interview because I think you were some of our first followers! Can you introduce yourselves?

Hey I’m Rinike, catgirl from Eorzea, in Azeroth some might know me as
a Worgen Druid.

Hiya! I’m Joey, but I usually go by my nerd name Cepheus on the internet.

Could you share a pic of you together – either IRL or in game, we don’t mind!

You know how when you chat with people and form and picture in your mind? You guys totally smash my mental picture!!! Love this more though, gorgeous.

How long have you been together and where did you meet?
We’ve been together almost 5 years. We’re acquaintances from the same guild in Vanilla but not until later we started talking and well here we are, married 😀

Show us a picture of your setup – do you have a cute couple thing going on, all cosy?

Space is an issue. We don’t have couple gaming space, but we both have our own nerdlairs 🙂

So, do you tend to play the same games together or prefer to keep gaming life separate?

Rinike: We play together and separate. I prefer to do things alone as I’m more into story and exploring side of the games 🙂
Currently though we have a new project in FFXIV where we are playing
the story together.
Cepheus: I love playing with her, but our interests sometimes differ. In WoW for example, I like PvP, which she doesn’t. We do try to do things together as well though. It’s a great feeling to be able to share a big interest like games with her.

With the current political situation it’s only right we ask your affiliation: HORDE OR ALLIANCE?

Rinike: FOR THE HORDE! But I’m currently more on Alliance because most
of my friends are on the ‘wrong’ side 😉

Cepheus: I tend to play where my friends play, since I don’t want to be stuck somewhere all by myself. This means I’m usually playing both factions. However, if I had to choose, I will always choose Horde.
POWER TO THE FORSAKEN!

Spill the beans: what’s the most fun activity you like to do together?
GAMING ACTIVITY… naughty! 😉

Old dungeons / content is always fun 🙂

As a couple, do you find sharing your gaming hobby helps your relationship?

Rinike: It does and as Warcraft is how we found each other? it makes it a little bit more special 🙂
Cepheus: Absolutely, gaming is a big part of our relationship. If only
one of us had that interest then I think it’d be more of a problem. We
both understand and respect each others need to play games.

*ahem* who rides who on the two seater mount?

That depends, we take turns 😀 (but in-game only Cepheus has two seater mount!)

Who is the raid leader in your relationship?!

Rinike: I’d have to say me, I’m quite bossy 😀

Cepheus: We’re more like the tanks in a raid, she’s the main tank, I’m
the off tank. We compliment each other well and can’t really do
without the other. But she’s more of a leader than I am 🙂

What’s been the biggest, how can I say this… marital dispute…
whilst gaming together?

Well, I (Rinike) tend to get quite competitive and I’m a sore loser so
I want things done in a certain way and it sometimes comes out as not
in so good way 😀

One of you has to kill 100 kobolds and one has to collect the 100 shiny beads they drop… who does which task and why?

Cepheus has that slaying down, I always have to remind him to loot the
corpses 😀

Where do you see your future in gaming?

Hopefully still going strong. Our dream is to go to Blizzcon one year
(let’s hope they still organize it when we get to do that :D) Us too, it’ll take a while though…!!

Ok, the million pound question. You’re farming a rare mount. Neither
of you has it. It drops. Who gets it?!!

We both would probably roll on it, but Cepheus would give it to me
as he is nice like that 😀

Cepheus: As much as I love games, she’ll always come first. A cool mount is nice, but making her smile is worth so much more. Awwww!!

Feel free to add twitter/facebook/blog bios below!

rinike.com is my blog but currently I haven’t written much about games
but the plan is to start writing again.

Couples Who Slay Together – Olivia & Tony

Couples Who Slay Together – Olivia & Tony

Welcome to our Community Project of 2017 (you can see our last one in 2014 here)!

We propose to do a series of – fun and lightearted – interviews which help us learn a bit more about our awesome community, and hopefully unravel some juicy details about our readers.

If you would like to get involved, contact us.

Hello! I kind of accosted you on facebook, so sorry! Thanks for agreeing to this mad plan! Can you introduce yourselves?

My name is Olivia, but I go by Clockwork Robot most places. I am 26-years-old, happily married to the love of my life Tony who is 30.

We've been friends for 9 years, and married for 3 and together we raise a beautiful little girl who is 8.

So cute! Is she into gaming too?

She loves gaming! She is really into Roblox on the Xbox – she also loves Pokemon, and anything to do with Mario. She has a Wii U and loves playing Minecraft and Lego games.
Bless her. Sorry got distracted, on we go!

We have four furkids, a mini pin, chihuahua cross named Josie (Jospehine from Dragon Age), a terrier mix named Izzy (Isabela from Dragon Age), a rat terrier cross named Lily (Leliana from Dragon Age) and a little turd butt Chiweenie named Zev (Zevran from Dragon Age) – I volunteer my free time to local shelters through my photography. My husband works for EFCO as a process tech, he is an amazing human being who works hard for his family!

My husband and I met 9 years ago in World of Warcraft. He was stationed in South Korea for the Army, I was a guild leader at that point and recruited him – we hit it off as friends, and eventually that friendship grew into something more.
Could you share a pic of your setup?

I don't have a picture of my set up, right now his computer is down (🙁), but we still play other games together, Playstation 4 and Xbox One are also platforms we game on together.

We used to game together a lot more, but since his computer went down we don't do as much together. We talk, gossip, and discuss the gaming community and games coming out, or information on possible games and patch notes for games each of us play. Gaming is infused in our way of life, it's just natural between the two of us to get nerdy together, about more than just video games.
The ultimate question then. HORDE OR ALLIANCE?!

My husband LOVES the Alliance because, Dwarves. I love the Horde for character reasons and I usually prefer the Horde storylines over Alliance – I dunno why, just do. We've played together on both factions though.

What's your favourite gaming activity to do together?

Gaming activity? Uh, I'd have to say that I actually prefer when my husband sit down and discuss gaming, I mean that is an activity right? I know sounds kind of boring, but we really do get in depth about the community, and companies behind gaming and it is something we both have passion about so it is a conversation that could go on for hours.

Does sharing your gaming hobby help your relationship?

I believe sharing a passion for gaming really does help our relationship. He understands what 'raid night' means for me, it means that for x amount of hours on set nights I am going to be occupied and he makes sure that no one bothers me so I can focus. I also know that when his buddies are online and they are gaming, that it is his alone time. It also helps to be able to nerd out over new games, or to discuss the pros and cons of games we've played that the other is interested in.
Any major disagreements over gaming?

I don't think we've ever had a maritial disputes about gaming… the only time my husband and I really fight is when it is about money – but otherwise, we tend to be realtively understanding with one another about gaming.

So that annoying quest where you have to kill 100 kobolds and collect 100 shinies. Who would do which task, and why?

Honestly, lol, I would end up being the one to collect the beads because I am usually a healer whenever I run around with my husband… so he'd be the one killing kobolds.
Where do you see your future in gaming?

Honestly, my focus is around my facebook page and around the community. Kind of like having my own little retreat from the world where I can get nerdy. My husbands current obsession is Xbox achievement points, which isn't surprising considering when he did play World of Warcraft consistently that he was a giant achievement whore.

The mount you've been after for weeks finally drops, but neither of you has it. Who gets it?

Uh, I'd get the mount – mostly because my husband doesn't farm for them like I do, and if he does tag along there is this understanding that I get the mount the first time and that if he wants to run for it again I'll tag along and help. It has always been this way, lol, he was more into achievements than farming mounts – I was into both, but there was a point when I was obsessed with mount farming running 10+ toons a day through things.

Thanks so much for letting us interview you. Check out Olivia's twitter here. Her facebook page is here

Thanks for doing our little interview! Can you introduce yourselves?

We are Jack and Nicole. We live in Nottingham, UK. (I’m a Nottingham boy  born and bred 😀 ~ Mr B) Jack has always been into gaming since a teenager, but Nicole only really got into it since meeting Jack.

Could you share a pic of you together – either IRL or in game, we don’t mind!

How long have you been together and where did you meet?

We met originally in school, being in the same tutor group we have always been friends but started dating in 2014 so have been together around 3 years.

Show us a picture of your setup – do you have a cute couple thing going on, all cosy?

Would be hard to send you a photo as were on opposite sides of the room but its nor cute or cosy as we are getting ready to move house. We are planning a cute couple set up in the new house though.

So, do you tend to play the same games together or prefer to keep gaming life separate?

We play a lot of our games together although Jack does play other games on his own as well as he streams on Twitch.

Spill the beans: what’s the most fun activity you like to do together? GAMING ACTIVITY… naughty! 😉

We are totally addicted to Ark Survival Evolved at the moment so it would have to be trying to get and raise the best Wyvern or Cave hunting!

As a couple, do you find sharing your gaming hobby helps your relationship?

Nicole: Yes – Otherwise I never get to see him! haha. This is how I got into WoW too… /sigh

Jack: Yes – Its stop her moaning at me for being on the Playstation all the time.  hahaha.

Who is the raid leader in your relationship?!

Nicole: Jack most definitely. I always feel like I play more of a supporting role.

Jack:  I have to agree as I usually have the most experience in the games we play.

What’s been the biggest, how can I say this… marital dispute… whilst gaming together?

Nicole: When we were in the caves and I feel down a hole and lost a level 200+ Sabertooth. I’ve never seen a grown man cry over a game before!!

Jack: When she killed my pet Sabertooth. 😥 /pat

Where do you see your future in gaming?

Nicole: I’m just enjoying it at this level. Blogging about it and maybe getting involved in the streaming.

Jack: Yes, I’ve just started a twitch account for us both to start streaming together.

Ok, the million pound question. You’re farming a rare mount. Neither of you has it. It drops. Who gets it?!!

Nicole: Do i even get to answer this?

Jack: No, ME!

Thanks so much to both of you for taking part, it’s been great getting to know you!

Couples Who Slay Together – Sisqi & Gamrok

Couples Who Slay Together – Sisqi & Gamrok

Welcome to our Community Project of 2017 (you can see our last one in 2014 here)!

We propose to do a series of – fun and lightearted – interviews which help us learn a bit more about our awesome community, and hopefully unravel some juicy details about our readers.

If you would like to get involved, contact us.

Thanks for doing our little interview! Can you introduce yourselves?

Sisqi: Hello! Glad to participate 🙂 I’m Inge. I’ve started my gaming experience after Gamrok bought me a Nintendo DS (my first gaming platform). After watching my man play WoW for four years, I’ve finally jumped on the Blizzard train and got completely hooked. This sounds similar to our story! I also like hack ‘n slash games like Diablo and POE, but WoW is my big true passion.
Gamrok: Thanks for having me on your blog! My name is Christophe and I play video games for more than 30 years. It all started with a Commodore 64 (Maniac Mansion), then an Amiga 500 (Monkey Island), and a PC (Doom2). I’ve discovered Blizzard with Diablo, but it’s with World of Warcraft that it truly became a passion. I also enjoy hack’n slash games and, occasionally, FPSs. In real life, I work in an office, my life starts at 16h00’.
Could you share a pic of you together – either IRL or in game, we don’t mind!

How long have you been together and where did you meet?

We’ve met 15 years ago on the forum of a Finnish rock band. Six months later we moved in together, one year after that we got married (7th of June 2003)… that was 14 years ago.
Gamrok moved from the French part of Belgium to Sisqi’s town, which is located in the Dutch part. We lived there for 11 years, then we moved to Brussels, the only part of Belgium where you can speak both languages. We now work in the same tower, so we can share our lunchtimes and we don’t have to commute anymore (more gaming). Sounds win/win to us.

Show us a picture of your setup – do you have a cute couple thing going on, all cosy?

This is so tidy, I’m in awe!

So, do you tend to play the same games together or prefer to keep gaming life separate?

Sometimes Gamrok likes to try out a new FPS, which Sisqi can’t play due to motion sickness. Other than that, we prefer to game together, whether it’s in WoW or in a Hack’n Slash. It’s all about discovering and sharing new experiences. That’s where all the fun is at for us.
With the current political situation it’s only right we ask your affiliation: HORDE OR ALLIANCE?
For the Horde! We’ve played Alliance on and off but our true allegiance lies with the Horde ;p Even if we love the cute cities of the Alliance, we prefer the characters of the Horde. No offense, but we couldn’t serve the Wrynn family.
Spill the beans: what’s the most fun activity you like to do together? GAMING ACTIVITY… naughty! 😉

Haha! Ganking other players in PvP world quests arenas is what we enjoy most at the moment (we’re even leveling 2 rogues especially for that purpose). Savage! That’s the Horde for you 😉 We also love to quest together. World quests, dailies… No matter how they call it nowadays, they are our favourites!
As a couple, do you find sharing your gaming hobby helps your relationship?
Yes, we share a passion, we game together and have so much to talk about…
WoW isn’t just a game, there is a gigantic community behind it: artists we support, YouTubers we watch, community projects,… It’s really great to share all that with your other half. It really is, being a tiny part of such an awesome community is lovely.

*ahem* who rides who on the two seater mount?
Sisqi: Gamrok, off course! He’s my living GPS IRL and in game 😉 Without him I’d get lost anywhere xD
Gamrok: I may almost always know the way, but it’s Sisqi who knows the shortest path. I’d fly through a whole map, if it wasn’t for Sisqi… She knows all the portals 😉
Who is the raid leader in your relationship?!
Sisqi: Once again, Gamrok, but I’m his “sexy” *ahum* assistant though ;p
Gamrok: A few years ago, Sisqi joined me in the game. At that time, she wasn’t really used to game, she was bumping in the walls. Now she’s the top DPS and she’s a real brute in PvP. But she’s too modest to admit it. Girl POWER!
What’s been the biggest, how can I say this… marital dispute… whilst gaming together?
Marital dispute, what is that? Can you eat it? No, seriously, we never had one of those…
One of you has to kill 100 kobolds and one has to collect the 100 shiny beads they drop… who does which task and why?
We’re two hunters, so we mostly AOE the hell out of everything, then we both loot.
Where do you see your future in gaming?
We’ll game until our very last breath with a million of posts in our blog full of souvenirs of our life long adventures. We’ll probably stick to MMOs and Hack ‘n Slash because we love RPGs. As long as WoW will exist, we’ll be in Azeroth. This is exactly how Mr B feels. #AzerothTilWeDie
Ok, the million pound question. You’re farming a rare mount. Neither of you has it. It drops. Who gets it?!!
We’ll most likely insist on eachother until we /roll, otherwise we’ll both end up without.
Thanks so much to you both for answering our questions. You sound like proper Blizzard fans and we love it! Check out Sisqi and Gamrok’s bios below.

Couples Who Slay Together – Moogyver & Natanie

Welcome to our Community Project of 2017 (you can see our last one in 2014 here)!

We propose to do a series of – fun and lightearted – interviews which help us learn a bit more about our awesome community, and hopefully unravel some juicy details about our readers.

If you would like to get involved, contact us.

Thanks for doing our little interview! Can you introduce yourselves?

Yes we can. 😉

We are Moogyver and Natanie.

Moo: I have been playing WoW since 2007 (Just gone over the 10 year mark) and doing WoW podcasting and audio segments since 2009. I currently Co-host the Chaos Portal with Legracen

Nat: I on the other hand corral the children (I have an image of you in a cowboy hat!!) during podcast recording, (occasionally failing to keep them quiet) as well as blogging and caring for the tribe and being arty and crafty with yarn pencils and whatever else I can find.

Could you share a pic of you together – either IRL or in game, we don’t mind!

How long have you been together and where did you meet?

Moo: We met through a setup by a mutual friend in 2001. He later was my Best Man 🙂 This is beautiful.

Nat: What he said. Took a chance and it all worked out although I’m glad none of the guys were crazy axe murderers. 😉

Show us a picture of your setup – do you have a cute couple thing going on, all cosy?

Moo: We don’t have the space to game together unfortunately. I have a small cozy cave with my desk and computer. Nat has a laptop set up on the dining table, so we are at opposite ends of the room. It can make trying to coordinate without shouting a challenge!

So, do you tend to play the same games together or prefer to keep gaming life separate?
Moo: A bit of both. I have an Xbox that gets occasional use (Elite Dangerous) and I love RPGs like Skyrim and Fallout on my PC. When we play WoW we are usually together, but Nat plays when I am not able to, solo on alts.

With the current political situation it’s only right we ask your affiliation: HORDE OR ALLIANCE?
Moo: Horde! But I have a soft spot for Dwarves.

Nat: I love my Femtaur but I am not biased, I will usually level an Alliance toon as well so I can see all the story.

Spill the beans: what’s the most fun activity you like to do together? GAMING ACTIVITY… naughty! 😉
Exploring new content together. There is nothing quite like looking at a new continent and its surprises and *gasp* moments together < so much this!

As a couple, do you find sharing your gaming hobby helps your relationship?

Guys I’m going to make this following answer stand out BECAUSE IT’S ABSOLUTE TRUTH.

Yes. It’s time spent together without paying a baysitter 😉 Shared hobbies are always good, but we also can enjoy it solo which helps. We don’t rely on each other for gaming time, it’s by choice!

*ahem* who rides who on the two seater mount?
Moo: On the ground, my chopper is the usual preferred mount, with Nat in the sidecar. In the air, she is the Sandstone Drake Queen, and I get the first class seat! If I ever get a 2 seat rocket though, then I’m sure that will change!

Who is the raid leader in your relationship?!
We both agree that it switches 🙂 we don’t have a hard and fast rule or a default position. It usually depends on who wants to do what, and the other will follow.

What’s been the biggest, how can I say this… marital dispute… whilst gaming together?
Moo:”Where are you going? Why are you going over there? Have you got enough of the things yet? Tell me when…” etc etc 😀 MISMATCHED QUESTING PACE! So so many couples we have spoken to say this.

Nat: Being flung out of the side car off a cliff or being lauched when he forgets I don’t have a tinkered cloak, sometimes he doesn’t either /giggle. In all honesty though, aside from a bit of misunderstanding, we don’t really argue, it’s only a game!

One of you has to kill 100 kobolds and one has to collect the 100 shiny beads they drop… who does which task and why?
Moo: As a Markman Hunter, I am the master of mowing down hordes of low levels at a time (Multishot FTW!) so Nat usually does the collecting.

Where do you see your future in gaming?
Moo: I feel like it’s always evolving. I like variety and the new shiny, but if my computer can’t run it I have to pass!

Ok, the million pound question. You’re farming a rare mount. Neither of you has it. It drops. Who gets it?!!
Moo: We roll 😉 Whoever was meant to get it gets it! Nat has the TimeLost Protodrake, and the Violet Protodrake, due to hard work farming. I’m lazier and prefer my Engineering built mounts.

I love that you guys sent us so many great pictures, thank you! Check out Moogyver’s Twitter here and Natanie’s here.

Couples Who Slay Together – Aimee & Liam

Couples Who Slay Together – Aimee & Liam

Welcome to our Community Project of 2017 (you can see our last one in 2014 here)!

We propose to do a series of – fun and lightearted – interviews which help us learn a bit more about our awesome community, and hopefully unravel some juicy details about our readers.

If you would like to get involved, contact us.

Thanks for doing our little interview! Can you introduce yourselves?

Hi2u! We’re Aimee and Liam, married with two kids. Are you as knackered as us then?! 🙂

Could you share a pic of you together – either IRL or in game, we don’t mind!

How long have you been together and where did you meet?

We have been together just over six and a half years and we met on an online dating website.

The only reason we managed to meet was because we lived in the same area. I was too ‘young’ for Aimee and I wasn’t really her type either. She preferred her meat heads at the time. Oh how well that planned out!

Show us a picture of your setup – do you have a cute couple thing going on, all cosy?

So, do you tend to play the same games together or prefer to keep gaming life separate?

We tend to keep most of our gaming separate. Aimee prefers games where she can control lives and bend their will. I’ve read this four times now and it still makes me LOL. The Sims, Prison Architect etc but is quite partial to some PlayerUnknown Battlegrounds or Left 4 Dead. I on the other hand have been playing FPS games since the ripe old age of 8. I also like to invest a lot into WoW at the moment. Loving my Warrior! SMASH!

With the current political situation it’s only right we ask your affiliation: HORDE OR ALLIANCE?

No discussion needed.. Horde. Hmm, I’m not sure it’s a fair representation if Aimee isn’t a WoW player, I reckon she would definitely vote Ally 😉

Spill the beans: what’s the most fun activity you like to do together? GAMING ACTIVITY… naughty! 😉

We love to help each other out with our prison design. Saying what works and what could change etc. Our L4D games have also been quite fun! Especially when we consider just how many friendly fire incidents there are. She has always said she would like to punch me square in the face. She needs to roll an Alliance monk and meet you in the PvP ring, clearly!! Maybe this is the closest she will get to actually doing it. Who knows!

As a couple, do you find sharing your gaming hobby helps your relationship?

We wouldn’t see each other outside of date night and the mornings before work. I hate watching TV, bores the crap out of me. So I’m glad Aimee has found a new love in gaming. She is starting to get slightly addicted now 😉

*ahem* who rides who on the two seater mount?

I’m always getting ridden; Like the village bicycle.

Who is the raid leader in your relationship?!

Aimee would hide in a corner if she had to decide on something. So I’ll take the lead.

What’s been the biggest, how can I say this… marital dispute… whilst gaming together?

I’ve been playing games most of my life and things come easier to me than Aimee. I forget that and just expect her to know what the [censored the naughty word – put a pound in the swear jar 😜] is going on and learn quickly before we die in a battle royale! Understandingly, she can get a little overwhelmed and will panic. It leads to a few on-air arguments. It brings back the viewers though! Silver linings and all that.

Of course, you guys stream together! Tell us a bit about that.

We’ve been streaming random sh*t on Twitch for a few years now. We’re not very big or serious, but we have a good laugh!

One of you has to kill 100 kobolds and one has to collect the 100 shiny beads they drop… who does which task and why?

Aimee is all for the shiny objects. She’s like a fish.

Where do you see your future in gaming?

We love to stream and it would be awesome to one day make it a living, like most other gamers. Time and family make that difficult. So our gaming future will be great as long as we find time to keep playing with each other (naughty naughty).

Ok, the million pound question. You’re farming a rare mount. Neither of you has it. It drops. Who gets it?!!

Aimee wouldn’t even know that it dropped. So I would get it and use it for quite awhile before she realised.

This interview has been genuinely hilarious, thanks so much for talking with us. Have a little self-advertising below:

Couples Who Slay Together – Dae & Strike

Welcome to our Community Project of 2017 (you can see our last one in 2014 here)!

We propose to do a series of – fun and lightearted – interviews which help us learn a bit more about our awesome community, and hopefully unravel some juicy details about our readers.

If you would like to get involved, contact us.

Thanks for doing our little interview! Can you introduce yourselves?

We are Dae and Strike! We have both been Blizzard game enthusiasts for many years! We both run Critical Miss on Draenor/Echo Isles US – Dae is GM and Strike is the Raid Leader. Dae is a Teacher and former WoW podcaster and Strike is former US Air Force.

Would you share a little piccie?

How long have you been together and where did you meet?
We have been together for over 2 years. We met each other as members of the same raid guild. It is actually funny – when Strike joined the guild he came off as kind of pretentious and I was not a fan. I would go so far as to mute him in voice chat during raids. I love this – from muting to married, what a story!!!

One day, he asked me to do the Field Photography achievement with him – so I decided to give him a chance. He proposed at BlizzCon 2015 and now we have been married for over a year!

Our wedding cake… because ALLIANCE!

I need to know more about this Blizzcon proposal!!!!!

We were attending some of the after parties at the Hilton and just kind of hanging out. Next thing I know, Strike takes out a little box and asks if I want to be his wife. And of course, I say yes! We got to celebrate the evening surrounded by friends and guildies. We even got to share the news with Hazzikostas, as we bumped into him. It was an amazing evening! What a brilliant story and such lovely memories!

So, do you tend to play the same games together or prefer to keep gaming life separate?

We tend to play the same games together. I usually like to play Healer/support and Strike is very much a Tank, so it works out well! But life has been hectic, so a majority of our time spent in games is now in WoW just for raiding and mythic+ progression.

What’s your setup like?

I love the little Pepe perched on there!

With the current political situation it’s only right we ask your affiliation: HORDE OR ALLIANCE?

Strike started out as Horde, but now we both bleed blue and gold- FOR THE ALLIANCE! YES /highfive

Spill the beans: what’s the most fun activity you like to do together? GAMING ACTIVITY… naughty! 😉

We both are pretty big achievement hunters, so we like to go off together and try to get as many as we can. Lately it has been completing the pet collection achievements… Still working on Wrath of the Lick King! These seemingly mundane runs are so much better with a buddy! Totally agree.

As a couple, do you find sharing your gaming hobby helps your relationship?

Since it is what brought is together, it remains a big part of our lives. Whether one of us is feeling down, so we take a time out and go to our special place in Azeroth, or we just need to get out some frustration in an Overwatch quick play – it’s always great to have my player two by my side!

Where is your special Azerothian place?

We always like to go back to Outland Nagrand and find one of those floating pieces of land, with the waterfalls of course, and watch the sky. It has always been one of my favourite places to go in Azeroth and Strike takes me there a lot. 🙂
*ahem* who rides who on the two seater mount?

DAE DOES! Unless Strike has to go AFK, then I get stuck flying both of us. 😛

Who is the raid leader in your relationship?!

Strike may be the guild raid leader, but I am definitely the relationship raid leader. And no, not because I like to be bossy and yell at him. We both have very different personalities and I tend to play the organization role because I hate being caught unprepared. Strike’s strength is thinking and reacting on his feet. So, I would say that we complement each other perfectly!

What’s been the biggest, how can I say this… marital dispute… whilst gaming together?
I like to take my time, explore, examine NPCs and read quest text etc. especially when I am first going through a zone. When we were leveling together at the beginning of Legion, Strike was getting very annoyed and impatient at how long I would take for each quest. He eventually had to walk away from the computer. We talked about it, and he agreed to slow it down to let me experience questing the way I enjoyed. ❤

One of you has to kill 100 kobolds and one has to collect the 100 shiny beads they drop… who does which task and why?

Since I am a Priest healer, I would be the bubbler and the bead collector. Strike plays a bear Druid/Rogue, he would kill the kobolds. This is also usually how questing goes for us!

Where do you see your future in gaming?

We are going to continue to run a guild together and keep making it stronger and stronger! There will always be more achievements to get, more pets to catch and more raid bosses to kill!!

Ok, the million pound question. You’re farming a rare mount. Neither of you has it. It drops. Who gets it?!!

Most of the time, Strike would let me have it. I have obtained both the Life-Binder’s Handmaiden and the Grand Black War Mammoth this way. We were both going to roll on handmaiden, but he found it would be my 300th mount, so he passed. The one that is on reserve for Strike is Mimiron’s Head!

Welcome to our Community Project of 2017 (you can see our last one in 2014 here)!

We propose to do a series of – fun and lightearted – interviews which help us learn a bit more about our awesome community, and hopefully unravel some juicy details about our readers.

Thanks for doing our little interview! Can you introduce yourselves?

We are Cinder and Thor, and we live in Melbourne, Australia.

I had to ask… here in the UK we are moaning about how warm it is. What’s it like there?!!

Everyone has personal preferences for weather, so I think it’s fair enough to feel uncomfortable in temperatures that aren’t normal for your area. I personally hate anything above around 23 degrees myself! BUT to put things in perspective- summers where Thor and I live can go in to the 40’s on a regular basis… and that is REALLY hot. Where Thor grew up in Perth those temperatures could last for weeks at a time. I admire you guys for even moving on those days!

Some tips for UK people wanting to cool down – wet a face cloth, roll it up into a long sausage shape and put it in the freezer for awhile. When the heat is getting too much for you, pop it on the back of your neck for a quick, refreshing cool down! And please stay hydrated, friends! 🙂

Could you share a pic of you together – either IRL or in game, we don’t mind!

This picture is a few years old, but it absolutely represents how silly and ridiculous we are together 🙂

How long have you been together and where did you meet?

Thor and I met on twitter in December 2010. He sent me a tweet about having fairy bread to make my day better, and I knew he was for me! (I’ve included a pic of what fairy bread is for those who haven’t heard of it). This is such a lovely story!

We both lived on opposites sides of the country, and flew back and forth to each other for a few months before Thor made the move to live permanently in Melbourne with me. We’ve been living together now for… 6 years it will be in December.

Show us a picture of your setup – do you have a cute couple thing going on, all cosy?

It’s far too messy to share with everyone on the internet!! We live in a small apartment, and our gaming room is very small indeed. Our computers come together in a corner… it’s hard to explain. But we’re very close to each other, so it’s nice.

So, do you tend to play the same games together or prefer to keep gaming life separate?

Until recently we played WoW together, including mythic raiding. Thor has recently (in the last couple of weeks) decided to take an extended break from WoW, while I will continue to raid mythics. But we also play other games together. Thor recently got a Switch and he’s been showing my how to play Zelda, and we’ve also been playing this cute game called Snipperclips. And of course Mario Kart. Always Mario Kart. 🙂

So yes, we do like to play games together, but we’re also fine just doing our own thing.

With the current political situation it’s only right we ask your affiliation: HORDE OR ALLIANCE?

T- Alliance. I’ve always liked Alliance

C- Thor got me started in Alliance so we could play together, and it’s always been where my heart is. We were both Horde for a while and I just didn’t enjoy it. All the NPCs were so mad all the time!

Spill the beans: what’s the most fun activity you like to do together? GAMING ACTIVITY… naughty! 😉

Mario Kart! We’re quite competitive. Thor also likes to watch me play Zelda on the Switch.

As a couple, do you find sharing your gaming hobby helps your relationship?

Yes. It’s something that we have in common. Thor got me into WoW specifically so we would have a hobby that we could enjoy together. Even though we’re not playing the same games anymore, we still get to share in each others’ successes and appreciate the time and effort that sometimes goes into getting them.

*ahem* who rides who on the two seater mount?

Thor drives! I have bad sense of direction… also I get too distracted by things around me.

T- Yes you do! Holy s**t you do get so distracted!! 😀

C- This is why we don’t level together anymore- I’m always running off to see something that caught my eye… in the opposite direction to where we’re supposed to be going! hehe

Who is the raid leader in your relationship?!

We both play different roles (me Heals, Thor Tank or DPS usually) so we bring different perspectives to raids. Sometimes just talking things out together helps us figure them out. But for the most part, we leave it to the guild’s raid leader.

Although when it comes to older content, Thor would usually take the lead because it would just be the two of us and he’d be Tanking.

What’s been the biggest, how can I say this… marital dispute… whilst gaming together?

Most of our disputes are related to general frustration with struggling on a boss fight in a raid. We both have a tendency to shut down a bit, and stop communicating for a while which can lead to misunderstandings. But we’re also very well aware that any frustrations we’re having are to do with the game and not each other, and once raid is over we’re back to our usual silly selves.

One of you has to kill 100 kobolds and one has to collect the 100 shiny beads they drop… who does which task and why?

It depends on how good my DPS set is at the time (given I main a Healer). Usually, Thor will run around because he’ll always have the higher DPS gear, so he will kill and I’ll collect. But when I get a bit more gear, Thor will round them all up so that I can spam chain lightning all over their faces. Then we giggle and pick up all the loots together.

Where do you see your future in gaming?

Well, we’re seeing how things go with me continuing to raid mythics and Thor taking a break. He’s really excited about all the games coming to the Switch, and I’m happy to play those with him. It’s already strange not raiding together… only time will tell. I think in some ways we’ll always be playing some sort of games together though.

Ok, the million pound question. You’re farming a rare mount. Neither of you has it. It drops. Who gets it?!!

We’ve had this happen before. I was new to the game and Thor took me to try and get Ashes of Alar. After only a couple weeks it dropped, and despite my protests, he absolutely insisted that I take the mount (to the point where he clicked on it for me so I would have it!) He kept farming that mount, and years later it still hasn’t dropped for him again.

So the new rule now is that we actually do roll for it. 🙂

Couples Who Slay Together – Philip & Lisa

Couples Who Slay Together – Philip & Lisa

Welcome to our Community Project of 2017 (you can see our last one in 2014 here)!

We propose to do a series of – fun and lightearted – interviews which help us learn a bit more about our awesome community, and hopefully unravel some juicy details about our readers.

If you would like to get involved, contact us.

Thanks for doing our little interview! Can you introduce yourselves?

P: My name is Philip and I’ve (in some type of form) been playing games ever since I can remember. My affection for Blizzard games goes back to Warcraft 1 that I played with my dad – and since it’s been the main gaming franchise I use.

L: My name is Lisa and I haven’t played games “all my life”. Before I met Philip I only played Sims 3: Pets and then we got to Pandaria together and that’s what caught me.

We’re both Swedish! I wanted to make an Ikea joke, but Mr B says that would be childish in a serious interview like this, so I’ll continue… 😉

Could you share a pic of you together – either IRL or in game, we don’t mind!

How long have you been together and where did you meet?

We met when we were 17. We were at the same school and eventually ended up in the same class. High school sweethearts, that’s lovely! We weren’t that active in playing games (either of us) for the first year or two but we tried many online/co-op games which led us to what we like to play today – games that we can play together (couch games?).
Show us a picture of your setup?

Lisa, you have a beautiful space, very relaxing!

So, do you tend to play the same games together or prefer to keep gaming life separate?

At first we played every game together – now we’ve realized that our tastes in games are different but mostly we still play together. If it’s online – we play it with the both of us!

With the current political situation it’s only right we ask your affiliation: HORDE OR ALLIANCE?

Well that’s a tough question… Our absolute first characters together were Worgen.. We didn’t really get that far; level 25 or so. Then our mutual friend kinda pulled us to Horde and we became a gaming trio in WoW! However recently, we decided to give Alliance another go and here we are. FOR THE ALLIANCE!

Spill the beans: what’s the most fun activity you like to do together? GAMING ACTIVITY… naughty!

Honestly the most fun activities we’ve done together have probably been with whatever guild we were in. We have a history from other games to hold large guild activites and it has kinda carried over to WoW. We also like transmog runs! Ooh shinies! But honestly, just multiplayer games where co-operation is required: Minecraft, Gears of Wars, Halo, Little Big Planet etc. Whatever we can work together in is the SHIZZ!

As a couple, do you find sharing your gaming hobby helps your relationship?

Absolutely! Because it’s a big passion for the both of us we find it easier to communicate with each other since we have similar hobbies (usually). We also have mutual online friends which like the same things the both of us enjoy. Co-op games have made us work together overall.

*ahem* who rides who on the two seater mount?

P: I mean… Let’s get something straight here. If there’s an achievement that is required for flying, I have it way before Lisa does, and usually our mutual friends. Meaning I’m the taxi that never gets paid… It’s just how it is.

L: I have bad memorization of map layouts and I’m just kinda too lazy. I have the 2 seater mount but… I barely ever use it.

Who is the raid leader in your relationship?!

P: I mean I guess I am? I might not always put the groups together or so but – if there’s a raid and a boss to kill I’m usually the one explaining what to do or going in “I’m in CHARRGEEE now!”

L: I like to get told what to do: “Don’t stand in that – don’t do that – do that!” he’s like my personal DBM! Sounds like a great thing to have 😀

What’s been the biggest, how can I say this… marital dispute… whilst gaming together?

P: I mean… We had a time where I had a Minecraft server we built a bunch of stuff on. I gave her admin for ONE second and guess what? Fudging squids and TNT everywhere in my castle! Outrageous!

L: I don’t think we’ve necessarily ever had a big problem together whilst gaming. Mhm.. I don’t think so.
One of you has to kill 100 kobolds and one has to collect the 100 shiny beads they drop… who does which task and why?

P: Honestly I think Lisa is the one who would collect the beads. I would probably try to be as effective as possible in killing them candle grabbing bonkers whilst Lisa is running after me trying to fit all those beads in her hands!

L: What he said.. I like picking up things. Ooh shinies! Me take candle!

Where do you see your future in gaming?

P: Uhm overall I think the amount we play now is probably the biggest we ever will. We’re in our mid twenties, I’m soon done with studies meaning my freetime will expire when I’m done. Then it’ll mostly be work, the occasional gaming period and spend my time doing other things!

L: Uhm – I’m about to start studying for 4 years. I’ll probably have a lot of freetime where I can play but after that.. We’ve been together for a lot of years now and we’re soon in that phase where we want a family which will leave little time to play around. It will probably always be a big part of us and probably for our kids. Probably a lot less multiple games and maybe just focus on one when that time comes.

Ok, the million pound question. You’re farming a rare mount. Neither of you has it. It drops. Who gets it?!!

P: Honestly.. I’d probably say her. I’ve never been a mount fan. I have my Yak with merchants and my 2-seater. I’m more of a toy collector! GET. ALL. DEM. SHINY. TRANSFORMATIONS!

L: Depends on how much the other person wants it. If it’s a rare mount he wants, that I don’t want – he’ll get it. But if we both want it we will roll! I can’t think of any mounts that I want though, I have my favorites for now!

Thank you both so much for taking part, it sounds like you have a great gaming relationship!
