An Azeroth Holiday

Mr B: that’s easy. Howling Fjord. It’s just beautiful. It has mountains. Water. Snow… everything you could want or need.
For me, it’s not so easy to decide. I suppose it depends what type of holiday you want? Or am I over thinking it?
I’d love to go sightseeing in somewhere like Thunder Bluff or Orgrimmar. There’s so many cool things to see and do, obviously only ever playing Horde, that I haven’t done. However, how cool would it be to go sightseeing around somewhere like Booty Bay or one of the cute fising villages off the coast. Oh, how about the Panda starting island? I’d love to go back!

For a beach holiday, I think I’d like to go to the nice sandy beaches of Tanaris… I’d be quite happy relaxing there for a couple of days. I love this screenshot of my rogue hanging out on the Isle of Quel’Danas. She’s spent many happy moments admiring the view of the sea.

I’d also really like to visit somewhere in the mountains to do a bit of skiing or relaxing in a cosy cabin – somewhere like Mount Nevrest.

I also wouldn’t mind visiting Nagrand for a safari holiday, or visiting the beautiful rocks and gems in Deepholm.
Thinking about it, I’d really love to do a tour of Pandaria. I’d visit Jade Forest, enjoy a ride down the river, take part in the sky race and visit the cloud serpents. I’d do a spot of fishing before heading to Halfhill and the market, eating lots of scummy food. Then I would go to Krasarang and have a lovely time on the beach (minus the things trying to kill me of course), then head off to the Shrine for some R&R.

The problem is the same as I face IRL. There are so many amazing, varied placed to visit, I can’t really decide where I would go first. Perhaps a Round-Azeroth-Trip is a good idea?!!

Here’s the next installment of #IntPiPoMo, from @AdmiringAzeroth.

H- Halfhill and Honour Hold

Halfhill is one of my favourite places in the MoP expansion. Honour Hold continues to puzzle me, with its multiple entrances and nasty ogres!

I – Imperial Eagle Chick and Instances

Aviary Photo_130289128615516495A very regal pet. Instances, love them or hate them, we all do them!

J – Jade Forest and Jaina Proudmoore

Aviary Photo_130289128467397272My favourite place in the world is Jade Forest (seconded closely by Nagrand!). It’s such a beautiful and -mostly- serene place to visit. Jaina is Mr B’s choice – fabulous woman!

Day 18 (someone you spoke to today)

This is Fhwoor, found in Zangarmarsh. The poor guy stinks and he knows it… sniffing his armpits periodically. Still, everyone needs a pal, right?

Day 19 (lost)

Shipwrecked and lost. SOS!

Shen-zin Su (the wandering isle) swimming so slowly you don’t even notice!

“A room” with a view – hanging with Kar and Co in the Up house 🙂

The sunstone panther that I grinded so hard for! Read more here.

Day 24 (in the background)

I spy with my little eye, something beginning with… A NAKED DWARF PHOTOBOMBING MY BEAUTIFUL PICTURE

Day 25 (culture)

Here is a mural in Jade Forest, near The Emperor’s Omen, which only appears after you’ve done the quest line. It depicts the story of peace and war and is actually pretty beautiful to see.

Day 26 (entrance)

Ok, with a pinch of salt, here is the gateway (i.e., entrance) to new and exciting worlds for heroic adventurers!

Day 27 (10mins from home)

I struggled with this for ages, not being able to decide which angle to take. Eventually I decided that to go “home” on my main, my Gnome Mage, was to go back to Gnomeregan where it all began. I flapped around, 10minutes this way and 10minutes that, chatting with the Gnome workers, before I realised that actually, I was doing it all wrong. I LIVE at the Shrine, or at Stormwind, and this snowy nothing place, is a world away from my Warcraft home. Yes, you can get there in 10minutes with portals and 310% flying, but it is a lifetime away from my little Gnome.

So, for that reason, Gnomeregan is my entry for this topic.

Savage

Aviary Photo_130141493126874658

I adore this tiger, he has unique blue eyes and a really lovely coat. GO GET HIM NOW!

Key Points

  • Found in Jade Forest
  • You must be level 85 to tame – so this is a good option if you’re new into the MoP content
  • He does not aggro, but, like all MoP trackables, he stealths so can not be picked up using NPC scan

Taming Strategy

  • I followed this map along his route – it’s long and windy, meandering through lots of damn hostile mobs… I’d stay on a flying mount (if you can!). The lady who runs this site is amazing, full credit to her for this map – please support the hard work she does!
  • As with most trackable pets for MoP, you’re looking for his ‘bloody tracks’ and then following them in the direction they’re facing. They will disappear after a few minutes from the back of his route as new ones are made at the front

Aviary Photo_130141495783946662

  • As always, when you reach the end of the trail, fire your flare in front of where you think he is. When he appears, stick a hunters mark on him to stop him going into stealth. This also makes him invisible to other hunters.
  • The tame is easy when you’re ready. He also doesn’t aggro, so you don’t need deterrence etc.

As a hunter pet, he really isn’t anything special… he has Prowl like all cats, but nothing that rocks my world. However, as a cat, he looks amazing (see the pic below where he’s prowling around Jade Forest!!) and I use him when I’m casually skinning or doing dailies out in the world.

Happy Taming!

Hutia

A very quick post to brag – I hope you don’t mind – about taming my latest hunter pet.

WoWScrnShot_040913_172138

Hutia, Spectral Porcupine, Jade Forest

I can’t take the credit for this tame, as it was the combined effort of Mr B and Hapie, our guildie. Doesn’t it look awesome?!

Key points

  • Found in Jade Forest and you must be level 90 to tame
  • One of 3 tameable spectral porcupines
  • You must get him below 20% health to tame and he hits like a beast so this is a kiting tactic
  • Get the Glyph of Tame Beast (I didn’t have it which made this much harder!) as it reduces tame time
  • He has a heal which you need to interrupt
  • If you have a friend helping, you won’t be able to tame until they leave combat: so a hunter friend is ideal as they can just feign death as you start to tame

Taming Strategy

  • Use all your dots, slows and stuns – kite him in a wide circle around the rock in front of his den and interrupt the spirit heal
  • At 20%, pop your Frost Trap to slow him, then Disengage which will fling you back the max distance away for the best survivability chance. Use Deterrence to give yourself those few seconds deflecting the attacks and hit tame. Hopefully, by the time he’s caught up to you, your tame will almost be finished and it’s a matter of surviving. I had 20k health left at the end as I didn’t have the Tame Beast glyph so the tame took a long time.

He truly is a spectralcular (see what I did there??) pet to have – good luck!
